1X Unveils Neo Beta Humanoid Robot for Home Use, Marking Key Development Milestone

Humanoid robot company 1X has announced the launch of its Neo Beta, a bipedal humanoid robot designed for home environments. This prototype release marks a pivotal transition from conceptualization to practical development for the company.

The Neo Beta robot, which was first introduced in June, showcases bio-inspired designs that enable it to safely operate alongside humans. In a newly released video, 1X demonstrates Neo’s ability to function effectively in domestic settings.

Set to be mass-produced at 1X's facility in Moss, Norway, the Neo Beta is engineered for a variety of general-purpose tasks. Standing 5.5 feet tall and weighing 66 pounds, the robot is capable of lifting objects up to 154 pounds and carrying loads of up to 44 pounds. Additionally, Neo can run at speeds of up to 7.5 mph, making it a versatile assistant for household tasks.

Bernt Bornich, CEO of 1X, emphasized the importance of safety in the robot’s development. “Safety is the cornerstone that allows us to confidently introduce Neo Beta into homes, where it will gather essential feedback and demonstrate its capabilities in real-world settings,” Bornich stated. “This year, we are deploying a limited number of Neo units in selected homes for research and development purposes. Doing so means we are taking another step toward achieving our mission.”

The introduction of Neo Beta is seen as a major milestone for 1X, reflecting the company's commitment to integrating advanced robotics into everyday life and advancing the field of home automation.
