Anthropic, the AI startup backed by Amazon and Alphabet’s Google, is launching its generative AI chatbot Claude in Europe. Claude, which competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, will be available to users via the web and a mobile app. The company will also offer a paid subscription version called Claude Pro, as well as a business plan option costing around $30 per month.
In a statement, Anthropic highlighted that businesses can “seamlessly integrate” Claude into their workflows. The chatbot will be accessible in multiple languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, and other European languages.
“We look forward to bringing the unique capabilities of the Claude 3 model family to more people throughout Europe,” the statement said.
Claude’s launch in Europe follows the earlier release of its API, which allowed businesses to integrate Anthropic’s AI models into their own websites and services. Additionally, Anthropic announced in January that it was developing image recognition capabilities for Claude, enabling the chatbot to identify objects in images and compare two images.
Anthropic has outlined several potential use cases for Claude, including summarization, search, creative and collaborative writing, Q&A, and coding. The company emphasizes the ethical design of Claude, asserting that it is less likely to produce harmful outputs compared to other AI models.
Anthropic’s launch of Claude in Europe marks a significant step in expanding its reach and providing businesses and individuals with a versatile AI tool. With its range of capabilities and focus on ethical AI, Claude is set to become a valuable asset for users across the continent.
