Bird Buddy Introduces "Name That Bird" AI Feature, Enhancing Birdwatching Experience

Bird Buddy, known for its innovative connected bird feeder camera, has unveiled "Name That Bird," a new AI-powered feature aimed at bird enthusiasts. This feature allows users to name and track individual birds visiting their feeders, enhancing the emotional connection with backyard wildlife.

The Michigan-based startup's CEO, Franci Zidar, highlighted the capabilities of Bird Buddy's 5MP high-resolution sensor, which captures detailed images to identify unique bird characteristics. "Name That Bird leverages these capabilities to provide users with a deeper appreciation of the diverse avian visitors," Zidar explained in a press release.

Part of Bird Buddy's broader AI suite called Natural Intelligence, the feature goes beyond bird identification. It includes functionality to detect injuries or illness among birds, supporting efforts to protect local wildlife populations.

In addition to bird notifications, the AI-powered system can alert users to the presence of other animals like bees, butterflies, lizards, raccoons, and even cats near the feeder. This holistic approach aims to provide comprehensive insights into backyard ecosystems.

While the new features come with a cost, Bird Buddy offers them through a subscription model. Natural Intelligence is available as part of the Bird Buddy Pro subscription, priced at $6 per month, catering to bird enthusiasts looking to deepen their engagement with nature through advanced technology.
