Copilot Enhancements: Pinned Chats and More Coming Soon for Microsoft 365 Subscribers

Microsoft 365 subscribers are in for a treat as Copilot, a valuable tool in the Microsoft ecosystem, is set to receive a series of enhancements, including a feature familiar to Microsoft Teams users.

According to a recent addition to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site, Copilot is gearing up to introduce pinned chats on its website, akin to the functionality already present in Microsoft Teams. The roadmap entry details that users of Microsoft Copilot with Graph-grounded chat will soon have the ability to conveniently revisit recent chats and better organize their work within the platform. With the upcoming pinned chats feature, users can pin up to 15 chats for quick and easy access at a later time.

The timeline for this exciting addition reveals that the pinned chats feature will be available in preview mode starting January 2024, with the official rollout to all users expected in February 2024. While the specifics of how the pinned chats feature will operate remain undisclosed, it is anticipated to provide users with a seamless and efficient way to prioritize and access their conversations.

Notably, the concept of pinned chats is not new to Microsoft's suite of tools, as Microsoft Teams users are already familiar with the ability to pin specific chats for quick reference. In Teams, users can hover over the desired chat, access the More options menu, and choose the Pin icon to keep the conversation readily available above others. It is plausible that Copilot's pinned chats feature might follow a similar user-friendly approach.

But the enhancements don't stop there. Microsoft is actively working on introducing additional features to Copilot. Mikhail Parakhin, Microsoft's head of Advertising and Web Services, confirmed in a recent chat on X (formerly Twitter) that the team is diligently working on full availability of Plugins for Copilot, dark mode, GPTs, and, of course, pinned chats. Parakhin acknowledged the ongoing holiday lockdown, which temporarily limits production changes, but assured users that efforts to enhance Copilot will resume after January 1.

As we move into the new year, Microsoft 365 subscribers can anticipate an array of improvements to Copilot, offering an enriched and streamlined user experience. Stay tuned for these updates, as Microsoft continues to empower users with innovative tools and features.
