Meta Introduces AI-Powered Business Tools on WhatsApp

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has unveiled new AI-powered tools for businesses on WhatsApp, revolutionizing customer communication. Introduced at the Conversations business messaging event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, these tools aim to streamline interactions between businesses and customers.

One of the key features is an AI tool that automatically responds to customer inquiries with pre-generated answers to common questions, enhancing efficiency in customer support. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of businesses deploying AI agents aligned with their products and services, foreseeing significant scalability benefits.

Additionally, Meta announced that businesses on WhatsApp can leverage integrated AI tools to create ads for other Meta social media platforms at no cost. These ads can remind customers about abandoned items in their carts or offer discounts, enhancing engagement on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Zuckerberg highlighted the improved targeting capabilities enabled by AI, ensuring businesses deliver more relevant messages to interested customers, ultimately leading to better return on investment (ROI).

The new AI-powered features are currently undergoing pilot testing with a select group of English-language businesses in India and Singapore, with plans for a broader rollout in Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Colombia later this year.

Furthermore, WhatsApp users will now have the convenience of calling larger businesses with a single tap, speeding up query resolution. Meta has also expanded its business verification feature to WhatsApp, allowing businesses to apply for a Meta Verified badge, signifying authenticity and providing enhanced security protections for their accounts.

Zuckerberg emphasized that these innovations will unlock opportunities for businesses of all sizes, particularly in Brazil, where businesses are at the forefront of leveraging messaging to connect with customers and drive growth. With AI shaping the future of Meta's apps, including WhatsApp, these developments mark a significant step forward in enhancing business-customer interactions.
