Microsoft Enhances Copilot with New Features and Redesigned Interface

Microsoft's Copilot, the AI-powered chatbot, is receiving a significant upgrade with a host of new features and a revamped interface for both its mobile app and web version. Chief Marketing Officer Yusuf Mehdi announced the updates in a recent blog post, highlighting the enhancements aimed at providing users with a more streamlined and intuitive experience.

The updated Copilot app for Android and iOS boasts a refreshed look and feel, with a redesigned interface that offers improved navigation. One notable addition is the introduction of new carousels positioned above the text, voice, and image input bar, showcasing dynamic suggestions each time the app is opened.

Celebrating Copilot's first anniversary, Mehdi revealed impressive usage statistics, stating that the AI chatbot has facilitated over 5 billion chats and 5 billion images, contributing to the growth of Microsoft's Edge and Bing platforms.

Jordi Ribas, Microsoft's Head of Engineering and Product for Copilot and Bing, further elaborated on the improvements, mentioning that Copilot's 'Balanced' mode now utilizes a refined model named Deucalion. This enhancement promises a "richer and faster" overall user experience.

Among the new features is the integration of Designer for Copilot, powered by DALL-E 3, which not only generates images but also facilitates editing. Users can manipulate images by highlighting objects, adjusting background blur, and even changing art styles like pixel art. Copilot Pro subscribers gain additional capabilities, including the ability to resize and regenerate images for square and landscape modes directly within the chat interface, without the need to exit the conversation.

Furthermore, Microsoft is introducing a new offering called Designer GPT for Copilot, providing users with an immersive canvas within Copilot to visualize their ideas. This premium feature is part of the Copilot Pro plan, available for a monthly subscription fee of $20.

Additionally, as part of a festive offer, Microsoft is rolling out the enhanced Copilot features to users in select English-speaking regions, including Australia, India, New Zealand, the U.S., and the U.K., enhancing accessibility and usability for a broader audience.
