In a keynote address at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the necessity for every country to establish its own artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Huang underscored the economic advantages of such infrastructure while stressing the importance of preserving each nation's cultural identity.
"Every country needs to have its own artificial intelligence infrastructure to harness economic potential and protect its unique culture. You cannot allow that to be done by other people," stated Huang.
Nvidia, a leading company in the high-end AI chip market with a staggering $1.73 trillion stock market value, is spearheading efforts to democratize access to AI technology. Huang highlighted the company's role in enabling widespread access to AI through significant efficiency improvements in AI computing.
"The rest of it is really up to you to take initiative, activate your industry, build the infrastructure, as fast as you can," Huang urged governments and industries worldwide.
Addressing concerns about the risks associated with AI, Huang dismissed fears as overblown, drawing parallels with the successful regulation of other transformative technologies such as automobiles and aviation.
"There are some interests to scare people about this new technology, to mystify this technology, to encourage other people to not do anything about that technology and rely on them to do it. And I think that's a mistake," Huang remarked.
Despite recent U.S. restrictions on certain Nvidia AI chips, imposed in October, the company announced in November its collaboration with customers in China and the Middle East to obtain export licenses for compliant products. However, Huang did not delve into this issue during his address.
Nvidia is scheduled to release its fourth-quarter earnings report on Feb. 21, signaling continued momentum in the AI sector and the company's pivotal role in shaping the global AI landscape.
