Robin AI Secures $26 Million Funding to Advance Legal AI Initiatives

Robin AI, the Anthropic launch partner, has successfully raised $26 million in a Series B funding round, led by Temasek, with participation from QuantumLight, Plural, and AFG Partners. The London-based company, witnessing a 5x revenue growth with Fortune 500 clients like PepsiCo. and Yum! Brands, plans to utilize the funding to accelerate its expansion in the US, launch operations in the Asia Pacific region, and hire additional AI engineers.

Founded in 2019 by Richard Robinson and James Clough, Robin AI employs advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to automate initial outreach to potential clients. The organization specializes in leveraging generative AI (Gen AI) to streamline contract drafting and negotiation processes, as well as extracting information from entire contract repositories through a simplified search.

The legal copilot developed by Robin AI, available as a Microsoft Word add-in, has garnered attention for its efficiency. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak highlighted the company's impact, stating, "In the private sector, start-ups like Robin AI are revolutionizing the legal profession, writing contracts in minutes [and] saving businesses and customers time and money."

Robin AI's legal copilot, designed to reduce contract review time by 85%, facilitates faster decision-making for business legal teams, enabling them to allocate resources strategically. The copilot can be trained with a customer's negotiating playbook, swiftly reviewing contracts, identifying clauses, and proposing edits while ensuring lawyers maintain control.

In 2023, Robin AI became one of Anthropic's launch partners for the release of their Large Language Model (LLM), Claude. As the exclusive partner applying the technology to legal work, Robin AI benefits from Claude 2.1, allowing for longer LLM prompts, particularly advantageous for analyzing lengthy and complex legal documents.

Robin AI's hybrid model combines the Claude LLM with proprietary data from over 2 million contracts. The company employs its machine learning techniques, supported by an in-house team of legal professionals, to enhance the model's quality and accuracy. With customers including PepsiCo, PwC, Yum! Brands, AlbaCore Capital Group, and BlueEarth Capital, Robin AI has gained significant traction, particularly in the private equity sector.

The newly acquired funding positions Robin AI to capitalize on the dynamic AI market and expand its presence in the US. Richard Robinson, co-founder of Robin AI, expressed the company's vision, stating, "We are building the AI platform for the legal sector - a service that deeply understands every aspect of the legal function... This investment will help us to realize this vision."
