Samsung Confirms Rollout of Galaxy AI Features to Older Flagship Devices in 2024

Samsung has announced that several Galaxy AI features will be extended to older flagship smartphones, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Z Fold5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series in the year 2024. The confirmation comes from Samsung UK, shedding light on the imminent arrival of AI enhancements for these devices.

As per a post by Mishaal Rahman on X, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is slated to receive at least four significant Galaxy AI features: Circle to Search, Live Translate, Note Assist, and Photo Assist. However, there is currently no confirmation regarding the availability of features like Writing Assist, Transcript Assist and Summaries, Generative wallpaper, and Instant Slow-Mo for older Galaxy S/Z series models.

Samsung's official website in India also corroborates the news, stating that Galaxy AI features will be accessible on the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Notably, these enhancements are exclusively reserved for the preceding generation flagships and will not extend to the Galaxy S22 or the Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 4 series.

The rollout of these features is expected to coincide with the OneUI 6.1 software update, anticipated to be released in the coming weeks.

The confirmed list of Samsung smartphones set to receive Galaxy AI features includes:

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S23+

Samsung Galaxy S23

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

Notably, the inclusion of Galaxy AI features on Samsung smartphones is likely to be restricted to devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Exynos 2400, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and Exynos 2200 SoCs. This suggests that the Galaxy Tab S9 series, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, is poised to receive at least a subset of these AI capabilities.
