Samsung Electronics is set to revolutionize kitchen experiences with its upcoming 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator featuring the AI Family Hub+1. This innovative appliance boasts an AI-powered camera equipped with "AI Vision Inside," capable of identifying over 30 types of fresh food items.
Moohyung Lee, EVP and Head of the Customer Experience Team of Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, expressed excitement about the upgraded AI and connectivity features, stating, "We are committed to letting users enjoy the many benefits of our innovative food ecosystem across a wide range of devices and features."
The refrigerator's AI technology categorizes identified foods and displays them on a 32-inch external touchscreen. Users can interact with the touchscreen, accessing apps, and editing information about the items stored inside.
The unique recognition technology relies on a vast training dataset comprising millions of food photos. The refrigerator goes beyond mere identification, allowing users to set expiration dates for purchased items and receiving alerts when the expiration date approaches.
A notable feature is the "image-to-recipe" integration, where the refrigerator suggests dishes based on the items stored inside. Users can input health and dietary preferences, such as vegan or vegetarian, enabling the fridge to recommend personalized and "healthy, appropriate" recipes and meal plans in collaboration with their Samsung Health profiles.
Users can send cooking instructions to their Samsung kitchen appliances effortlessly, enhancing the overall cooking experience. The refrigerator's "Fridge Manager feature" monitors the water filter status, alerting users when a replacement is needed and facilitating on-screen purchases from Amazon.
The 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+1 is set to make its debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas from Jan. 9 to Jan. 12. Samsung aims to bring smart technology into kitchens, providing users with a seamless and enhanced food management experience.
