Wombo Secures $9 Million Funding to Advance AI Creativity and Build World’s Largest AI Supercomputer
Canadian AI image manipulation startup Wombo has announced a successful $9 million funding round, led by Round13 Digital Asset Fund, with notable participation from Nvidia and CoreWeave. This latest round brings Wombo’s total funding to over $15 million.

Wombo CEO Ben-Zion Benkhin praised the investment, describing it as a testament to the company's vision of democratizing AI-powered creativity. “With the support of industry leaders like CoreWeave and Nvidia, we’re well-positioned to scale our technology globally and continue delivering chart-topping hits that reimagine how people interact with AI in their daily lives,” Benkhin said.

The company has been experiencing significant growth, driven by increasing interest in AI for entertainment purposes. Wombo recently surpassed 200 million downloads across its suite of AI applications, reflecting its strong market presence.

The new funding will be allocated towards expanding the team, accelerating product development, and advancing the creation of Wombo’s ambitious w.ai project. This project aims to build the world’s largest AI supercomputer by turning idle devices—such as MacBooks, smartphones, and PlayStations—into “AI workers.” Users will be able to share computing power and earn rewards, contributing to a decentralized AI computing ecosystem.

Wombo’s strategy has attracted partnerships with major tech providers, including Nvidia. The company’s advanced products, such as Nvidia’s Picasso, align with Wombo’s need for reliable and scalable AI solutions. Phil Eisler, Vice President of GPU Delivery Network at Nvidia, highlighted the impact of Wombo’s innovations: “Generative AI is changing the way entertainment is delivered. Wombo is helping shape and scale cutting-edge experiences to its millions of users worldwide.”

Since launching Wombo Dream in February 2021, an AI generator tool that converts text into images, Wombo has made a significant mark in the consumer AI space. Khaled Verjee, Managing Partner at Round13 Digital Asset Fund, commended Wombo’s track record and vision: “Wombo’s unparalleled success in creating viral AI-powered apps and their ambitious plans for w.ai align perfectly with the future we envision for consumer technology.”
