Elon Musk-owned xAI's advanced AI model, Grok AI, has been launched in India through X (formerly Twitter) exclusively for Premium+ subscribers. The subscription, priced at Rs 2,299 monthly or Rs 22,900 annually, positions Grok AI as a premium offering, surpassing the cost of ChatGPT Plus on smartphones.
When subscribed to X Premium+ from a desktop, Grok AI is available at a lower cost of Rs 1,300 monthly or Rs 13,600 annually. Notably, Grok AI is currently in the early access stage and is accessible only to users with the top-tier X subscription plan.
The X Premium+ subscription, besides granting access to Grok AI, comes with various benefits, including an ad-free X experience, blue check verification, monetization options, extended post creation capabilities, high-resolution video uploads, post editing, background video playback, video download, and more.
Grok AI, Elon Musk's generative language model, operates in two modes—fun and regular. The fun mode delivers more playful responses, while the regular mode offers standard replies. A distinctive feature of Grok AI is its real-time data access from X, enhancing its ability to provide precise answers on recent trends and developments.
xAI asserts that Grok-1, with 63.2 billion parameters, surpasses the capabilities of GPT-3.5, the engine behind the free version of ChatGPT. Furthermore, Grok-0, the earlier model with 33 billion parameters, is claimed to outperform Meta's LLaMA 2 with 70 billion parameters in tasks such as HumanEval coding and middle-class math word problem-solving.
In a festive offer last November, some users raised concerns about Grok AI's use of phrases like 'cannot fulfill the request, as it goes against OpenAI’s use case policy,' hinting at potential use of OpenAI's code. Igor Babuschkin, xAI's chief engineer, clarified that Grok was trained on extensive internet data, which includes content generated by GPT. He reassured that the use of OpenAI code in developing Grok is an exceptionally rare occurrence.
