Artificial intelligence is entering a second wave of development as signalled by the likes of ChatGPT, an expert in the field explained Thursday.

Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT stunned observers in late 2022 with its ability to produce answers to abstract and complex questions. Speaking at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Thursday, Zico Kolter, chief scientist of AI at Bosch, explained how the system's ability to respond to input from a variety of sources move away from application-specific AI systems and toward a more general system that works in a variety of cases.
The breakthroughs were perhaps best demonstrated by Don Burnette, CEO of Kodiak Robotics and a fellow panelist. Burnette explained how businesses can better leverage AI than ever before, and the general public's understanding of the technology has improved. In addition, the governor's team views Musk's participation as a show of support, despite the tech magnate's public repudiation of a formal endorsement.
Musk, known for his unpredictability, recently praised an ad by Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., a potential competitor for DeSantis in the race for the GOP nomination.
But, regardless of endorsement, the tech entrepreneur's participation in the governor's presidential launch places Twitter more directly in the election spotlight than any other tech company to date.
Even without an outright endorsement, Musk's alignment with DeSantis is seen as a challenge to the perceived inevitability of a Trump candidacy.DeSantis and Musk's relationship began in early 2021 at a dinner party in Austin, Texas. The two also connect through Sacks, a key Musk confidante and Republican donor who supports DeSantis.
Free Speech and silicon valley
Musk, a champion of free speech, has amassed a substantial following after acquiring Twitter and reinstating suspended far-right accounts.
Under his leadership, Twitter has become a platform favored by conservative voices, which aligns with DeSantis's strategy.
However, this strategy has its potential pitfalls. While Musk's popularity could benefit DeSantis, it could also eclipse him.
Also, DeSantis may find himself fielding questions about Musk's controversial statements, adding a layer of complexity to his campaign.
Despite these concerns, DeSantis's team is confident, and the governor seems comfortable sharing the spotlight.
Still, there's the risk of Trump spinning this alignment as a battle against powerful corporate forces, a narrative he's used successfully.
As the campaign progresses, Musk will be stepping down as Twitter's CEO, passing the torch to Linda Yaccarino, the former head of ad sales for NBCUniversal.
The tech titan plans to continue overseeing product design and new tech, while Yaccarino will manage the business side.
This upcoming presidential announcement represents an innovative twist on traditional campaign strategies.
As one Trump advisor said, announcing on Twitter is a perfect fit for DeSantis, enabling him to bypass direct media interaction.
As this unique political narrative unfolds, all eyes will be on DeSantis, Musk, and the future direction of Twitter.
